Shady Lady joined us a few months after her birth in 1997. She is easy to recognize because her left ear folds over at the top. This tipping resulted from Shady rubbing her ear after she was bitten by Maine's infamous black flies. During black fly season our female llamas tend to stay in their shelters during the day and come out at dusk to feed. Shady is a great guard as are her offspring. She is quick to give the alarm call whenever we have an unfamiliar animal in the area.
